The Truth About "Putting Up" And What You Can Do About It

What do you find yourself putting up with as a man/woman, mother/father, partner, child, entrepreneur, neighbor?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" />

Even more important, what impact is this having on your life, your happiness, your business?

If you aren\'t experiencing the results you\'ve been hoping for or the life you envision, it\'s time for change.

To illustrate how many of us will tolerate unpleasant circumstances, consider how many times you\'ve sat through a movie, no matter how bad it was.

I remember going to \"Lady Killers\" starring Tom Hanks a couple of years ago, and 30 minutes into the film my husband and I looked at each other, shaking our heads.

It was one of the worst movies we had ever seen. We spent the remaining hour or so of the film talking about walking out and demanding our payment back.

Did we leave and request a refund?  -- No.

We allowed the unpleasant experience to go on until the bitter end.

We complained, hoped things would eventually turn around, and finally left the theatre feeling cheated, frustrated and angry at ourselves for not acting on our first impulse to get up and leave.

The way we handled this experience is the way the majority of us handle life.

Often when we\'re dissatisfied with our lives, we just sit there and watch the results continue. Why? Because like going to a movie, we feel we\'ve already bought the ticket and invested in the experience, so it\'s our responsibility to watch the entire thing unfold.

We sit and complain, throw a tantrum or two, or storm about feeling like a victim of circumstance, but only the rare few will actually get up, refuse to accept the results and insist on change.

What those enlightened few understand is that the results (or the bad feelings) won\'t change until the movie changes.

The same theory applies to life and business.

If you\'re not enjoying \'the movie\' you\'ve created for yourself, how would sitting through it longer than you already have benefit you?

If you don\'t like the results you\'re experiencing, you have the power and the right to change the cause of those results.

Think about areas in your life where you are merely \"putting up\" and seek out creative action steps you can start taking today to create more positive and enjoyable experiences for yourself.

If you\'re in a job or business you hate, what can you do about it?

If you\'re in a relationship that is unhealthy, what can you do about it?

If you\'re wandering through life wondering what you\'re meant to do, what can you do about it?

One of the greatest gifts we\'ve been given is the freedom to choose what we want for ourselves and the creativity and means to bring what we want into reality.

You don\'t have to put up with anything you don\'t want to and only you can make the decision and take the action to change your results. It is in your power.
