Pond Weed Clean-Up, A Neighborhood Effort

An abundantly stocked recreation pond, Sluice Pond is a 50 acre body of water with approximately 165 homes that abut the pond. Sluice Pond Association success at raising funds for eradicating weeds from the pond spurred inquiries from pond landowners throughout Massachusetts and New England. After a formal evaluation of the pond weeds produced an estimate for treatment costs, fund raising was necessary to rid the pond of weeds in a manner that would protect the fish, wildlife and recreation.
